U.S. men's national team defender Chris Richards logged 80 minutes off the bench as Crystal Palace defeated Norwich City in the Carabao Cup Tuesday. After a 10th-minute injury sustained by Chadi Riad, Richards was called upon as his replacement and helped keep a clean sheet as they advanced to the next round of the competition.

star forward Josh Sargent, a fellow U.S. international, did not feature in the contest after being named to the bench to start the clash.
Goals from Daichi Kamada and Eberechi Eze, along with a Jean-Philippe Mateta brace helped secure all the victory for Richards' side. The U.S. defender, meanwhile, completed 97 percent of his passes from the back while putting forth a brilliant defensive performance.

This was Richards' third-straight match where he played 80 plus minutes for Palace. The other two came in Premier League matches against West Ham United and Brentford.
