Man Utd were up by 2-1Mauro Icardi scored just before half-timeGoal was ruled out due to tight offsideWHAT HAPPENED?
Icardi was offside by mere millimetres, denying him from getting on the scoresheet against United on Wednesday evening. The Argentine forward was through on goal after he neatly brought down a long diagonal ball from Sacha Boey. He beat Andre Onana with a dummy and slammed the ball home into an open net to complete a fine finish but to his utter dismay, the linesman raised the flag to rule it for offside.

The semi-automated offside images showed that it was Icardi's left ear, a bit of his shoulder and a fraction of his knee that were on the wrong side of the line. If the goal had stood then things could have panned out differently as a howler from Andre Onana in the second half allowed Galatasaray to mount a spirited comeback to eke out a point at 3-3 from being 3-1 down.

United's defence was all over the place as the hosts had little trouble in making inroads while they were looking to get back in the game. It has been a concern for Erik ten Hag since the beginning of the campaign and the Red Devils have now conceded 33 goals in their opening 20 matches for the first time in 60 years.

United are in the fourth spot in Group A of the Champions League, level on points with Copenhagen. However, all is not over for Ten Hag's troops as they can still reach the knockouts provided they beat Bayern Munich at Old Trafford on December 12 and Galatasaray drop points against the Danish side.
