According to reports in the Liverpool Echo, Everton are considering taking legal action against former manager Ronald Koeman after it was revealed that they are still paying the majority of his wages, and Toffees fans have been quick to react to the news.
The Liverpool Echo says that the Dutchman, who was earning £6m-a-year at Goodison Park before he was sacked in October, had a clause inserted in his dismissal negotiations that stated that if he was earning less than 10% of what he did for the Merseyside outfit in a new job, they would make up the shortfall.
That has proven to be the case since the 55-year-old took the Netherlands job with his salary at less than £600,000-a-year, which has left the Toffees furious and seeking legal advice, according to the Liverpool Echo.
Everton supporters, who are excited by potential new manager Paulo Fonseca’s latest comments on his future, took to social media to give their thoughts on the update, and while one simply said “classic Everton”, another described the situation as “absolutely ridiculous”.
