Sheffield Wednesday may now be on the verge of the play-offs, but under Jos Luhukay they looked a side destined for relegation. Before he was sacked in mid-December, the Dutchman had achieved just one win in his last ten games.
It was a shambolic record and it was no surprise to see him sacked. However, he’s now back in management with 2. Bundesliga side FC St Pauli, a club known for their extreme left-wing political views.
And reacting to the news on Twitter, Wednesday fans were bemused that he’d been given a chance by another club.
One supporter sent his deepest sympathies to the German team whilst another urged their fans to have a stiff drink on hand.
It was a pretty brutal attack on the 55-year-old who was also labelled as a joke. A further fan said he wouldn’t let him take charge of running his bath.
At Wednesday, Luhukay had a win percentage of 38.24% but has had more success in Germany, having won the 2. Bundesliga on two occasions with Borussia Monchengladbach and Hertha Berlin. He’s also finished as a runner up in the league with Augsburg.
Here’s what fans of the Owls have been saying.
