The 27-year-old shot-stopper, who completed a big-money transfer from Inter to Manchester United during the summer transfer window of 2023, fell out with national team coach Rigobert Song at Qatar 2022. Those differences have now been put to one side.

Onana was sent home from a historic tournament in the Middle East after clashing with Song. He decided to rule himself out of contention for future call-ups as a result. However, the reports that the Red Devils star has had a change of heart, and will now form part of Cameroon’s plans for an upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Burundi on September 12.

Cameroon only need a point in order to book their place at the next AFCON tournament, which will be hosted by the Ivory Coast in January. With Onana back in the fold, he is now in line to miss important Premier League games when a new year is welcomed in.

Onana had previously hinted at shelving his international retirement plans, saying: “Cameroon remains eternal and so does my love for the national team.” Bridges have been rebuilt with Song, allowing the highly-rated keeper to add to his collection of 34 caps.
