Glasgow Rangers are eyeing up an exciting move for a 17-year-old talent who could potentially reach even greater heights than his brother…
What’s the news?
According to TEAMtalk, the Premiership giants are interested in teenage midfielder Jobe Bellingham, the brother of Borussia Dortmund and England superstar Jude.
The Ibrox club face stiff competition if they wish to secure the signing of the Birmingham City youngster, though, with the likes of Nice and Bayer Leverkusen leading the continental chase, while Newcastle United and Sunderland are also keeping tabs on the player.
Birmingham may have to listen to offers for Bellingham, especially having failed to secure new owners as of yet.
Exciting move
Michael Beale has pledged to give Rangers’ youngsters a chance at first-team level during the second half of the season, with the 42-year-old having a plethora of talent to plunder from the B team.
It duly comes as no surprise that he is interested in bringing Bellingham to Ibrox, and it could be the perfect place for the next stage of his development.
His older brother Jude is one of the continent’s most sought-after talents, with Dortmund slapping a massive €150m (£129m) price tag on his head in order to warn off Liverpool, who are reportedly favourites to sign the player.
It’s far too early to say, but the younger sibling could certainly follow along the same path if he keeps his head down and works hard, and Beale could be the ideal manager to get the best out of the 17-year-old.
Birmingham manager John Eustace spoke to the Birmingham Mail (via TEAMtalk) about his talented midfielder, saying: “Jobe is very level-headed, he gets his head down and he works hard. Jobe is an individual who has had a fantastic season until now. We’ve given him lots of minutes and he is developing really well.”
Bellingham has been eased into first-team life at St Andrew’s, playing 11 Championship matches this season but starting just once. Despite his brief time on the pitch, he has completed 50% of his attempted dribbles and taken 0.3 shots per match.
Beale has the likes of Alex Lowry, Charlie McCann and Malik Tillman to call upon when it comes to emerging prospects at Rangers, and Bellingham would likely fit in with ease alongside that fledgling talent pool.
It could be an exciting move for the Ibrox club if they were to lure the youngster to Glasgow, and with the 42-year-old no doubt aiming to be at the helm of Rangers for the long haul, it may be an excellent investment to get in this teenage sensation.
